“Improvisations For Theremin & Hang”, the new album from Thorwald Jørgensen and Peter Elbertse, brings together two instruments rarely heard as a duo: the space-controlled theremin, an early electronic instrument played without physical contact; and the hang, a variant of the steel drum played using the palms of the hand.

These two instruments prove ideal partners.The lyrical qualities of the theremin and hang combine with the latter’s rhythmical force to form the basis for a surprising and illuminating album.

During recording sessions, Jørgensen and Elbertse improvised all pieces on the spot and also used percussion, loop-stations, effects as well as live electronics to make the two musicians sound like a full ensemble, creating musical styles ranging from minimalist, to classical to Middle Eastern, and everything in-between.

"Improvisations For Theremin & Hang" is an album that celebrates the possibilities of both the theremin and hang, revealing unexpected connections between these remarkable and versatile instruments!
