Every single sound on Explorations in CT6000 comes from only one instrument: the Casiotone CT6000. The EP was created by Dutch producer/keyboardist Stan Molenaar. It serves as an homage to this wonderful but often underrated instrument.

The keyboard was released by Casio in 1984, as part of their semi-professional product range. It is basically a semi-analog synth with 20 presets and accompaniment. A lot of (at the time) hi-end specs were included, like MIDI, aftertouch and an elaborate effects section. It has an analog filter, which makes the already fat and luscious presets sound even fuller and thicker. The rhythm accompaniment section is basically a pre-programmed analog drum machine.

On this EP, all the amazing qualities of this instrument come to light over the course of 5 tracks. The tracks are very different from one another, but they all have the same ‘bitty’ analog synth sound which makes the CT6000 unique. The EP will be also released as a cassette tape by Wic Recordings: wicrecordings.lnk.to/CT6000
